DESCRIPTION:Dr. Chelsea McCracken\, assistant professor in the Department of Communication and Media\, has been awarded this year’s Richard Siegfried Junior Faculty Prize for Academic Excellence\, and will deliver the annual Richard Siegfried Lecture on Tuesday\, Dec. 3\, at 6 p.m.\, in the Craven Lounge\, Morris Conference Center. \nDr. McCracken’s lecture entitled “Visualizing Hollywood’s Gender Inequities Through Female Dialogue\,” will be introduced by Dr. Jeanine Minge\, Dean of the School of Liberal Arts and Business. A Q&A session and dessert reception will follow the lecture. This event is free and open to the public. LEAD credit is offered to students who attend.

DESCRIPTION:This is the Level 2 Training course towards the Online Teaching Certification. Successful completion of this training and the SUNY DLE Brightspace Fundamentals Asynchronous Modules are required to teach online at SUNY Oneonta. \nThis 4-week course allows the participants to experience a fully online course as a student and work through the skills needed to successfully set up your own online courses.  While all of the work for this course can be done asynchronously\, there will be an opportunity each week for a synchronous session to connect with the instructors and the other participants.

In the fourth talk of this series\, Dr. Ranjit Dighe (SUNY Oswego) draws on his book\, Huck Finn as History: Reading Mark Twain’s Masterpiece as Social and Economic History. The book relates Twain’s novel to four themes: prosperity\, expansion\, commercialism\, and inequality. Refreshments will be served.

DESCRIPTION:The Office of the President will partner with departments across campus to host a series of institution-wide campus mingles during the common meeting time (3 – 4 p.m. M\,W\,F) throughout the Fall 2024 semester. \nA unit or department will host an open house-style mingle in their office(s) and provide information/materials about their functions. These will be especially appropriate for units that are location dependent.  We will rotate by division and each division will work with their Vice President to determine the schedule for units that should or would like to host. 3-4 p.m. \nContact Karyn Wendrow\, Chief of Staff\, with any questions.
